30 Day Song Challenge

30 day song challenge day 11: a song from your favorite band

I’m skipping day 10: a song that you can fall asleep to. The piece of music is rather obscure and i couldn’t find the  appropriate video on youtube.

A song from your favorite band. Anyone who knows even a wee bit about me knows i’m a bat-shit crazy Travis fanboy. In fact, i  almost get ridiculed for my devotion. It’s only fitting i add two favorite songs from the Glasgow boys. The first is the one that made me fall for Travis. Way back in 2001. The second, when one of my small dreams came true when Fran Healy chose my request from the audience at the Vienna, VA half-Travis acoustic gig. At a small intimate band gig, you just have to shout out at the top of your voice and be very consistent if you want your request to drown out the others.

30 days song challenge day 9: a song that you can dance to

I’m a hopeless romantic. The first song that I remember I had a strong urge to dance (with someone) was this, way back when i was a goody-goody teenager with stars in my eyes. It still remains one of my all-time favorites. Lots of water has flown through Driftwood river. I will go with the one below. I imagine I’d make a half-decent robot dance with Gnarls Barkley.

30 day song challenge day 8: a song that you know all the words to

So many to choose but I shall go with the song that’s stuck in my mind through the weekend. Another Death Cab song but what to do. The lyrics makes me daydream of an imaginary youth in the misty slopes of Rockies or in midst of the Pir Panjal range of Kashmir.

30 Day Song Challenge Day 7: a song that reminds you of a certain event

Not technically an event. Crazy infatuation/love at first sight/lightning bolt thingie at this academic conference aeons ago. She was a punjabi undergrad. We never spoke but kept glaring at each other uncountable times over three days. The song also features my single favorite line from any song i’ve come across before and after.

30 Day Song Challenge Day 6: a song that reminds you of somewhere

Without doubt the greatest moment in my school life. Inside the Sidhu Kanhu Auditorium, in front of thousands of screaming students, parents and teachers after winning the quiz, a nail-biter on 2nd day of the 1st inter ICSE cultural fest. I shouldn’t even talk about the 3rd & final day. Oh joy and glory! It’s one of those things that stays with you forever as vivid as it just happened yesterday, one of those days that goes a long way towards defining you as a person.
